I am going to say large date. I say that because the way I have learned was draw an imaginary line (use a card, piece of paper, ect.) from the bottom of the 1 to the 0 and if the 7 falls below that line it is large date if the bottom of the 7 is level with that line it is a small date

I believe that small date/large date only apply to the S mint, and S varieties are only what is listing in the Red Book

EDIT - and all that is listed on http://www.lincolncentresource.com/...lldates.html

the small date is only for San Francisco mint mark.

my bad, you are correct.

I also just looked in "A Guide Book of Lincoln Cents" and it states "Two hub varieties were made this year . The large date was used on Philadelphia and Denver cents, and both large and small dates on San Francisco cents."

Bingo! If it's not an S mintmark, it is what it is.

You also asked about MAD. For that, a reverse pic is necessary.
