I've seen pictures called proofs for 1971. Some have the modern rims and some do not. I found this one in a roll, and was wondering.

Unfortunately, I would vote no. I don't see mirror-like surfaces in the fields.

Some of my worst pictures, they don't show the shine. I know Coop knows with or without it. I just had to check it. Thanks ya'll.

For that year, a proof would have an S mintmark.

Thanks for the pic Coop. Looks like two different rims for the proofs?
Spruett, there were a very few proofs without the S. That's why I had to check it. Only 200 I think, but don't quote me.
