I found this penny in debris, from a renovation site, of a 200 yr. old farm house. I just learned about the error with the "L". I was wondering if I have a pointed bust.

The "L" was not an error.
It was just a design element for part of 1864 and removed later that year.
Like the VDB on the 1909 cents.

Actually the year started without it and it was added late in the year (CN rounded bust no L, Bronze rounded bust no L, and then bronze pointed bust with L). The L and I believe the pointed bust remained through the rest of the series.

It looks like a pointed bust to me, and I think I can see the L on your coin.

I think I can see the L also. Just need to get a bit further away from the coin with your camera and get a whole coin pic.
