This Orbiana CONCORDIA AVGVSTORVM As sold on ebay yesterday for $59. I watched the coin and put in a bid, but, in the end, decided not to pursue it because I wasn't sure if it was authentic or not and the condition wasn't the best, even if Orbiana is a rare empress.

While it looks like it has old encrustations, including some red areas, the lettering looked a bit soft to me when I compared it to authentic specimens on VCoins.

What do people think? Real or not?

Thanks for sharing your opinions.

I don't see anything wrong with the coin. A very nice Roman provincial.

Not a provincial, Ron. This is an Imperial As. Note the S C in the reverse exergue.

Paul, it's a dead ringer for RIC 656 pictured in Plate 8, no 11. You could have gone for double the final price and made money on the resale.

I wish I had seen it.

Oh well. I guess I was too cautious.

With all the fake ancients on ebay I was hesitant on this one.
