The coin is fairly priced but for the $1000 range coins I would add
a few more hundred and skip the "details" type coins in favor of a clean grade.

Thanks for all the great advice.
I did manage to call the seller and talk about the coin.
The rim nick is a bit unsightly. It is a beautiful design I must say.
I have very few 1700 coins just to say I've owned them.
After talking with him a while I did get him down to $900 cash. Hmmmmmm!

As you can see, most of the responses regarding eye-appeal were pretty negative.. Consider that you might decide to sell the coin one day to upgrade, or any other reason. You have received enough opinions here to give you some indication of how the market would view this coin should you decide to dispose of it. I would keep looking if it were me.
