Is a coin with die chip worth more that face value?

Die chips happen a lot on the single squeeze dies. As far as I know, there are none with a premium for them that I know of.

General rule- No. there could be exceptions to the rule, possibly a well placed chip that would alter a word or major detail, but not likely.

Hello Roja,
I often see coin roll hunters placing coins with chips up on ebay for sale. Your not going to be able to quit your job to sell just die chipped coins but you can definitely make a few bucks. There is a market for them. Also, like BigSilver noted there are exceptions that tend to get a nice little premium. One that comes to mind is the 1960 Bar Nickel...although that one I believe is classified as a Cud and not a chip. Regardless, can't hurt to keep any nice coins with chips and try selling them as a lot on ebay if you have the time to do so.

Best of luck!

How about a 1975 nickel extra dye chip that looks like a epaulette?
