Greetings,
Anyone have any idea what kind of error this is and how I can tell the composition? The date does not show but was in a collection of old Indian Head pennies recently given to me that were saved by my grandparents. I included an image of an 1887 penny to compare color and thickness. Thank you!

I do not think that you have an error coin. It appears to be plated. It was probably an attempt to make a novelty piece.

Rest in Peace
