I've long been attracted to error coins, but I'd never happened to find a Standing Liberty quarter error that called out "buy me" .... until today, that is. This one caught my eye at a show ....

Like the title says: Not a 1918/7-S ....

I was drawn to the die break, extending across the date. Also, I've seen relatively few SLQ's in my travels that bear such noticeable errors.
Rest in Peace

There's enough displacement to call it a recessed date. Very nice!

Small die break = not calling my name . Is that an inverted S MM ? As long as you like it ,that's what counts .

"Small" is a relative term. Granted, I've seen larger die breaks. Upon close examination, the break appears to stretch upward and across the top of all numerals in the date. The location was part of the appeal to me, a "sweet spot" if you will, one that drew my attention. I've long been drawn to more unusual coins and tokens, the ones not often encountered.
