I don't think I've come across a circulation strike with heavy die polish lines. I assume that's what it is. Thought it was worth sharing. I'd say the Mint worker gave this one some extra muscle if so lol!

Nice nickel. I'm thinking it is just the way the planchet was before the strike. The raised areas seem to have the same amount of horizontal "streaks" as the fields.

Thank you. I wasn't exactly sure because the raised lines didn't seem as prevalent on the portrait but you are probably right. The reverse doesn't show the raised lines for what it's worth.

Hey I could be wrong for sure. My experience is that 1950 nickels seem under-rated. They're not seen terribly often. I like yours just as it is. If you get a chance, throw up a reverse image. I'd enjoy that. Thanks

The 50s are nice for sure. You can definetely find nicer struck coins easier than previous years.

Hey ! You have a 1950 D Jefferson there.
The famous key date and not often found in circulated condition. Yours looks like it is in XF45 to AU 55 condition but either way it's about a $8.00 to $10.00 nickel all day!

Did you know that finding a nickel like that in 1950/1951 would have probably sold for $20 or $25 and at that time $22.50 in 1951 had the same buying power as $217.29 in 2017?

I didn't know that about 1950 D nickels and no I didn't pick it from change. Bought a few nickels from 40s 50s and 60s for not much to rummage through

Ya still got it searching thru, I think that may count for "hunting" if you're searching an unknown quantity...

Lucky dog you!, had to buy all mine so far...
