That's an interesting description. It looks like gunk stuck on the coin with possibly some glitter in there as well?

Look closely @ the reverse. And notice if it's glitter then, a nice red ruby one found a place snugged up to the "I" in America.

Looks clear coated with nail polish...bet you a stale donut if you soak overnight in acetone a lot of that "stuff" will disappear. The motto is not doubled, suffers from late stage Die Deterioration and over-polishing of die, forces devices outward and increases width of device. If you see any doubling it is MD. Pix not good enough for us to really tell.

Will do. I will pull coin & look to clean. Didn't want to make effort to clean up before posting some pics..
No acetone but olive oil on hand. I'll try first. Any other suggestions on cleaning that's acceptable?
