Well I hit 3 schools today. Found quite a bit of stuff. Weather has been nice and you sure can tell it with all the junk. The last school I parked at the curb at the field. When I got out I saw this arrowhead just looking me in the face. It's 3 1/2 inches long. I'd rather have it than all the clad I found today.

Nice artifact! Most likely that's a spear point due to the size, and it looks fairly old due to the mineralized surface. Interesting that you found it on the surface...was it in a wash where sediments collect from runoff? If not, it was most likely uncovered years ago by landmoving. You should compare this to "modern" indian points done in your region--this could possibly be "archaic" ie very old -- thousands of years. A local University might enjoy seeing this find!

The area that this was found is close proximity to the Cape Fear river. Artifacts are known to be in this area. Usually I go out every year and look the farm fields but this year I haven't taken the time. The area this was looks like it had been cut down at one time and then with the help of erosion showed itself. I'm leaning toward the Guilford-yuma type. Have to break out the book to be sure.
No silver in this batch. One earring has 9k layered gold but all the other stuff is junk.
