Hi all,

Reasons for posting this are two-fold. One just got new camera and practicing getting a decent pic, let me know what you think :).

Two the mint mark on this looks quite crooked. I used the camera's program to adjust the coin with grid on and got the date as evened up as I could.

Thanks for looking.

It does look a little crooked but, it's nothing to get excited about.

Up through 1989, MM's were hand-punched on the dies so variations like this are not uncommon.

It would have to be extreme to have a premium.

Is your white balance set right? Also you should crop pics as much as possible.

Honestly I don't know, this was just an out of the box set to macro shot but thanks for two things for me to work on getting right this weekend.

If you found a penny with a D mintmark on lincolns forehead, that would be worth a premium.

What about a dime from 1999 that has a crooked mint mark? It just looks so odd when they're visibly crooked...I can send a pic if you prefer, but it's a pretty similar question with a more modern date. Still learning--thanks!

1989 was the last year that the mm were hand punched into the working dies.1999 the mm would have been engraved into the master dies.Post a pic if you can.
