a flurry of coin hunting & searching has yielded a few things I did not know I had stashed away.

i was actually working on an 1889 Indian penny with missing denticles post when I happened upon these two old wheat cents, a 1923 & a 1926, each with a lamination error.

here's the 1923 obverse.

and there's the reverse, with a nasty lamination jag, running roughly from about 4/5 o'clock to 10 o'clock, from rim to rim.

here's a couple better looks at it:

here is a 1926 Wheat cent reverse. I show the reverse first because the lamination error is on the obverse:

that jag is a lot straighter than the one on the '23, and it runs from nearly the rim just above the 6 in the date through Lincoln's throat, stopping at the back of the neck. complete with faux wood grain finish.

i had to share these because these are actually my first lamination error finds. not sure how long i've had them, a few years, maybe..

the preview button is very handy, glad I located it.

Those are both very nice examples!

My theory is that woodies and lams are very closely related, no matter if the coin "looks" like a woody. Both of yours have a small premium above face value.

yep, there must be something to it, the Lincoln throat lam runs in the direction of the faux wood finish.
