I believe I've got this token identified correctly as PE-7C.
However there are four varieties determined by the obverse (small or large "AND"), reverse (Small or Large "Quatrefoil" and die axis.
This coin has a medal axis and although I'm not completely certain I think the obverse has the small "AND".
I just can't tell if this has a large or small quatrefoil on the reverse they all appear the same to me.
Does this coin have a large or small quatrefoil? and maybe an idea on the grade?

Cheers, Bill

Bill

Small AND / Small quatrefoil.
F 15 / weak reverse.

Again, Dr. Courteau identifies 6 different varieties within this specific grouping.

I will ascertain the variety when I find time.

According to Charlton's, there are 5 major groupings for this series.
These groupings are determined by the fonts of the AND and the size of the quatrefoil (both on the reverse).

I APPOLOGIZE - Once in a while I make a quick conclusion without checking all the details. Sometimes the identification
of whether the quatrefoil is large or small can be deceiving. Upon further study, the quatrefoil in the photo provided
is of the large variety.

Of this entire series, Dr. Courteau identifies 22 different varieties (Courteau varieties 19-40).
Aside of the above, Courteau has two primary diagnostics.

The first concern is which type of font is used for the letter E. Courteau references these as either being 'Hook' or 'Perfect.'
The 'E's' in the photo provided illustrate the 'Perfect E.' Howbeit, typically on the obverse, the section of the vertical
of the cross-bar above the cross-bar is practically absent. Whereas, the cross-bar of the 'Hook E' is basically a heavy
downward curving line. There are no right-angles to the cross-bar of the 'hook' varieties.

The second concern is the relationship of the upper serif of the numeral 1 with the letter C in PROVINCE and the right corner
of the numeral 7 in relationship to the letters SL in ISLAND.

Considering this grouping (Charlton's PE-7C3 and PC-7C5 /Small AND, Large Quatrefoil/), Dr. Courteau identifies varieties
25, 26, and 34. Of this grouping:

Variety 25 can be eliminated as this variety has 'hook E's' on the obverse and 'perfect E's' on the reverse.

Quotations...

Variety 26: "Perfect E's. In ISLAND S is closer to I than to L at top. /
At left, the top of date lines with left curve of C; at right, with the letter L." R.2

Variety 34: "At left, the top of date lines with lower end of C; at right, with the right curve of S.
In SELF closely spaced letters with E a trifle farther from S than L.
In GOVERNMENT V closer to O than to E, M a trifle closer to N than to E." R.3.

This is Courteau variety 26. Rarity 2.

p.s. This data is from A.D. Hoch's "Canadian Token and Medals". pgs 61-63.

The second token is Charlton PE-7C1. Large AND, Large quatrefoil.
The photo provides a nice ensample of what Dr. Courteau describes as 'hook E's.'

This is identified by Courteau as variety 19. Rarity 1 (common). To wit:

Quotation from Courteau:

"Letter E with central stroke curved downward. Hook E's. Lower end of L recut inside.
At left, the top of date lines with the right branch of letter N; at right with the upright of letter L.
Closely spaced letters." /on the reverse/

Compare the compactness of these letters with the previous photo, (especially SELF and TRADE).
