I bought a few unc rolls of 1980 d and others these past weekend at an antique place in Houston, and on my last two coins on the roll I found these wile watching "netflix on my computer and going through coins", that at first I thought it was PMD (It may have some PSD) but then I turn it to the reverse and saw it.

Awesome, I'm always amazed at how odd shaped mint errors make it into rolls.

Very nice find. Too bad about the PSD though. I wonder if Mike wants to see this one?

It's an off-center strike on an elliptical clip planchet. Nice find, even with the obverse scratches.

I bet that the scratch happened during the roll wrapping process. No biggie. If it were discovered in the bulk bag or bin, sure , it would have been better I guess.
When you had that unopened roll in hand, was it obviously "out of round" at that point where the coin was? A slight tear or bump on the outside of the wrapper?I always look a roll over for a bump, there could be an off center, double struck or elliptical where the bump is. I would think most coins like that tho might get rejected or caught at the wrapping process tho. ( I wanna be a bulk coin - bank roll wrapper worker today at Loomis ) I bet the people who have that job find a lot of errors.
