They are rigged rolls and 90% are 40s and 50s. I did it once and it was a waste of money.

We all have to start somewhere. It's OK to try one of these things, shake your head, and never do it again. to the CCF!

Best of luck. Check those RPMs and overdates and you can still hit some neat 40s and 50s winners.

What timing! About a half hour ago a mixed indian head and Wheat penny roll I purchased arrived and I could not be happier! In total I found a 1902, a 1904, a 1906, and a 1907 Indian Head penny, as well as a 1917 Wheat penny and several 30s pennies. A large portion of these pennies were bearing the S mint mark, as the seller lives in Washington. Additionally, I received a 1942 D BU penny and an MS state 1958 penny. Most of them were fifties and forties, but they were still fabulous! I also found a 1935 S penny, which has a mintage of 28.7 million. Best of all, it only cost $5.99 plus shipping! It is called " Wheat penny ROLL WITH Indian Head cent AT ROLL END. Wheats unsearched collection" So overall, mine was great but other are almost always searched and newer dates. Sometimes, though, you get lucky!

I only buy bags of 500, 1000 or more. The last bag I bought contained 1250 wheats. Results will vary but Read the item description as honest sellers will usually show or tell you what the mix is like. But bags will usually have the best finds. One 750 coin bag I recently purchased, from an Oregon seller, I was very pleased to find mostly D and S mints and majority were pre 1930s, 20s and teens. Other bags I've bought have contained larger quantities of steelies, others have had nice quantities of Indian Head cents, Buffalo nickels. Don't waste your time on single generic rolls as they mostly contain common 40s and 50s dates, chances are you'll be disappointed. The only time I buy individual rolls are when they specifically contain only 10s, 20s or 30s.

Rule of thumb for seasoned collectors : thou shall not buy or bid on Wheat cent rolls from e-bay . Ok maybe I'm being a little harsh . Most of us have tried it at least once and the results were anything but satisfying . As long as you don't have hopes of finding any keys or even semi-keys you'll be just fine .

Looks like a good variety, and the 1913 D is a score. Can't say I recommend you do it often, or expect much when you go for it, but as previously stated, we all have ti start somewhere.

Personally, I have bought 1000+ bags of Bulk wheat cents, my cost was $49, $56 shipped. I actually had almost identically the same mix of dates as OP did, just a WHOLE lot more of the same. Most often, I NEVER had a full set of even book 2, ALWAYS no 54P or 55S and maybe a few rusty steelies for some reason. My stuff generally came from TX or Midwest...order from East Coast had the majority P mints. I used to track as well, used a sheet like this: Field/columns on left are bulk bags, those on right were either rolls of pre 1933($12,95) or mini-bags of 20 "of the good ones($5.00ea.) You can see, very slim on pre 1940 coins, usual ratio was only 7-11% of teens-30's...meaning over 85% were the common dates 40-50's. BTW, have bought over 30,000 Wheat cents over the years, just PM me for some pointers!
