Hi There,
I just put these 2 1988-D Jefferson nickels side-by-side and noticed 2 different MM locations (close to 88 and far from 88). I did not see these on other posts in this forum and I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this.

On nickels the mintmark was punched into each individual working die up till the year 1989. So your coins have normal random placement of there mintmarks.

That is a rather close D tho on the one in the background. Since you have a good eye for this, look for a 1975 D with the one between the 5 and the ponytail. That one is a popular MM variety on nickels.

Thanks, Nickel Guy. I will keep an eye out for this one, too. I've been doing a bit of CRHing lately and am finding some neat stuff. I recently got 2 war nix and 2 Buffalos (no dates, though), all from bank wrapped rolls.
