Hello all. I bought a couple of 1972-S Ike dollars today from a local coin shop, one was a business strike and one a proof. I weighed the business strike and it weighs 22.68 grams. It looks silver, performed the tissue test against other coins and it looks silver. The only difference is the weight. It also is not attracted to a magnet. Is it a Chinese made coin or some type of error? Here are some pics I took, thank you for the help!

22.68 is the correct weight for the clad version. Sometimes they did a really good job making them and they look really nice. (Even without the core peeking out)

True but ALL of the 1972 S dollars should be silver clad and even with tolerances 22.68 is too low for a silver clad Ike. There are at least two known 1973-S business strike clad coins, but where would a clad planchet have come from in 1972? If you think it might be clad a specific gravity would be the next step. (clad SG is 8.92, 40% SG is 9.53)

I just got back from a different coin shop and they said the coin is indeed 40% silver but said they couldn't explain the weight of the coin.
