Got some Oklahoma quarters in normal change today.

Check the pics- almost identical markings on these two-

Die chip in the zero of the upper date 1907
Die chip right at tip of left wing of bird -just below the number 1 in 1907.
Die chip over the left wing of bird
Die chip? just below the bird eye

Anyonelse have a 2008 Oklahoma State Quarter with the above markings also?

Yes, they are made from the same die, or it could be a defect in the Hub. If it is a Hub defect, it will be present on the majority if not all of the Oklahoma quarters.

Some pics of the obverse on both coins- the B in Liberty is filled/clogged etc,- Top and bottom on both coins.

Just found another identical marking regarding these quarters.

Die chip in the lower portion of the diagonal N of In God We Trust on the Obverse- in addition to the others already posted.

No one on E-Bay has these particular errors on Oklahoma Sstate quarters listed for sale- they are listing the extra leaf/extra wing/semi-clogged b etc.

Curious:

Has anyonelse found one of these quarters that I have listed?

The design of the Oklahoma quarters has so many inherent weaknesses that small die chips develop on many parts of the coin.

It reminds me of there Jefferson nickels in the 1960s where die chips would develop above the letters of LIBERTY.

It did not prove that the coins were struck by the same dies. While your coins may have been, it is more likely that hundreds of thousands of coins all over the country will exhibit the same types of anomalies because the design is flawed and has so many potential places for chips to develop.

Thanks,
Bill

It's very likely those two coins are from the same die...but that adds nothing to their value.

But- it also doesn't take away from their value -so I'm still at least even! :)

Thanks and have a Happy!
