I just received this Type I Three Cent Silver and wanted to see what the CCF members has to say in comparison to PCGS.

Thank you for your attention and comments!

I agree with AU58
I think that the 3C silvers type one are from the most difficult series' of US coins to grade.
Who agrees with that?

I certainly agree that Type I 3CS (fish scales) are difficult to grade.

I personally would estimate AU55, and if either of those two scratches near the N is on the coin, add "details" to that.

This is my first grading estimate attempt, however (or, at least, the first in several years).
Rest in Peace

Minor slide in the fields is all that gives this an AU-58. Great photos, but these are such little bears (or fish) to grade outside of having it in your hand. This is one type you almost have to move beneath the light to see how it plays on the surface.

I say AU-55 without being able to see the luster in person. I could be convinced to go up to AU-58.

MS-61... technical AU-55, but they way they grade these days...

You have tiny rubs on the shield outlines at K2:30 (2:30 o'clock), K4 and K8:30
You still have most of the fin on the reverse C (K2), but it's rubbed slightly. You also have a little rub at the peak of the diamond at K9.

I saw the interesting 1, didn't see the 3 til you mentioned it. I don't know this coin well enough to venture a grade guess. Are you OK with that grade?

These little rascals are hard to grade, yes, I am ok with the grade. I will see what JA thinks of it along a few other others.
