Your first few pics are a little blurry, but I think it's a pretty good crack. The 2008 is not retained. If it was retained the design would show. It's a break if it has vertical displacement, if not I'd call it a gouge. Nice finds.

No, if you look under the die break on the 2008, there's a retained die break underneath it if you look closely.

It might be my eyes, but if I'm going to see it, I'll need a better picture. Maybe someone else will see it.

Here you go CoinMasters. I hope you can see it now. I took it out of its flip and I even modified the photo pointing to the retained die break. I hope it works for you.:)

The LC from 2007 is I think a retained interior die break or almost. I just realized this and posted a better and clearer picture of the LC from 2007.

You can and should add pics in replies, it affords easier reference to the pics, and clarifies progression of the thread. You can't do it in the Quick Reply below, but can in the Reply To Topic above. You've added some better pics. In a couple of the last ones, there seems to be something close to a Retained Die Break. The qualification for it varies with different experts. I'm not an expert, but I am a realist. I adhere to the belief it should be fully engulfed (with allowance for wear on the coin), and exhibit design, and vertical metal displacement in at least one area. Without those factors, there's no proof it's anything more than a die crack. Since we're on the subject, some people are satisfied with horizontal metal displacement. I say that's not evidence of a break, only a wide Die Crack. Other people are satisfied with no displacement at all. I don't agree with that either. Your photography skills will improve drastically the more time you spend here. For now, you have the coin in hand. Do you see design surrounded by crack-like features with at least part of it higher or lower than the rest of the coin?

The way I understand a retained interior die break (RIDB), there must be an area on the coin that is completely surrounded by connecting die cracks (an island, if you will). Is that a false understanding? That should also apply to a Retained Cud where the die crack(s) complete a connection with the rim on both ends.

Thank you CoinMasters and spruett1. I understand it. Coinsmasters, I do see the crack on the coins. Also, I use my phone as a camera and have no other way to take pictures. So I will have to make do with this. Thank you guys for your words. I'm sorry if their was any misunderstanding. :)

I don't think it will qualify as a retained die break, but still a cool die crack.
