Hey guys, was debating whether to even post this. Or just leave this coin altogether aside as worthless.

But was curious as to what these inscriptions could be.

Found it in a small holder with text 1938 penny and words inscription beside it.

Hi Vatreni. Got your PM, but I had to attend a coin club meeting.

Guru that I may be in some aspects, I regret that I can't help you on this one. My knowledge of the 20th century issues is quite limited. These look like industrial patent stamps to me. It wasn't uncommon for factory workers to stamp a coin for fun. Given the size of the marks, cutlery is one possibility or else small parts off an assembly line, perhaps?

I've long studied the 19th century pieces; particularly so, those that were intended to advertise products and services. I like the silversmith, gunsmith, entertainment pieces, patent marks, photographers, saloons, etc. .... most any pieces to which I can attach some history and be virtually transported to ye days of olde. Those stamps that display unusual or uncommon names are the mystery pieces that I enjoy researching, too.

Thanks, guys, for thinking of me. This one's a long shot!

Parts are often marked with manufacturing information. Given this is a 38 cent marked 39 and 9, it could be something manufactured in September 1939.

Now it's a bit of a long shot, but Consolidated Freightways' bought a truck manufacturing company in 1939 and renamed it Freightliner...
