I recently cut this UNC 1978-D Jefferson nickel from a mint set and noticed significant widening to the lettering and other devices on both the obverse and reverse of the coin. It also appears to have what appears to be some sort of "clash damage" around the rim which is also apparent on both sides.

I've found similar examples like this to a lesser extent (exhibiting an overall mushy appearance) and they were simply dismissed as VLDS coins due to the numerous obvious flow lines they exhibited however, this coin lacks any obvious flow lines that I can see.

Anyways, I was just wanting to get a consensus of first impressions on this coin from the group.

Thanks
