Hi, I'm new here. Please forgive me for my lack of knowledge and lingo.
The coin on the left is a THIN, lightweight 1974 Quarter.(I have the other coin to compare color contrast) Silver color on front, Copper and dark on reverse. HEAD on front appears to have what may be Leaves? On it from about the eye to the near the back of the head.I noticed this after taking a picture and enlarging it a little. Any info and help is greatly appreciated. Is this an error?

That's just some extra-oridary wear. We'd call it environmental damage. There's a dozen reasons it might have got that way but I'd bank on being in a gutter or parking lot a long time.

to the CCF. I'm sure others will chime in with their opinions.

to CCF. It is a damaged coin. Maybe some kind of acid? Looks like a bubble by his ponytail from heat maybe? Could be a metal detector find.
