I was given a few coins by my dad, that were his dad's. Do you think it's repeated or original finish. What type of grading would this be? Should I get this graded professionally?

Thanks

to the CCF.

Appears by photo to be an original 1943 Cent in average circulated grade.

Value if sold today at retail price is less than $1 ... definitely not a coin worthy of professional grading/certification.

Politely suggest that you keep this as a nice keepsake from your family.

I was not sure, all the others I was given, look almost black. Thanks for the feedback!

Recoated or reprocessed (not sure what the exact term is) steel cents are much more shiny. The dark ones you saw are all rusting away and corroded, which is very common for these.

Absolutely no plans to sell any of it including the really cool 90% offset strike Lincoln Memorial penny.

Nice, original coin - not replated. I can see cartwheel luster. It does appear to have a slight amount of wear though.

1943 is a common coin. They are not worth getting slabbed until you get into the 67-68 range.

Yes ,I agree original steelie , no rust, AU-55 . Does not warrant to be slabbed . 2x2 holder is just fine .
