Gentlemen, I have no illusions these two worn-out coin have any great value, but they have great interest as they are larger than any hammered silver of the old Hungarian Empire that I can trace. One is 3 grams and 28 mm across and one 2 grams and 25 mm across. Although facially worn the flan cracks and lettering suggest they are of their original diameter. Typically the one dinar coins weigh less than one gram and are smaller. The lettering might be ROD, suggesting Rodolph. Rodolph 1 13th century is a possible. Rudolph ii perhaps not. Of the image, the figure that looks like an 8 might help. I know it is all pretty vague, but the size and weight intrigue me The first 2 images are of the first coin and the second 2 images are of the second coin.
Is this an impossible task?
Michael

I suspect Bohemia. I'll poke around.

#2 may be Vaclav II (Wenceslaus/Wenceslas II) of Bohemia, 1278-1305. I think I can make out "ZLA" from WENCEZLAVS on the obverse (see bottom part of pic below)...

Perhaps the same attribution for the first one? It may be "LAV," perhaps from WENCEZLAVS, on the obv...see left image below. Pretty sure another rampant lion on the other side.

Could also be Wenceslas IV (TERCIVS) - I don't think the respective letters are visible on your examples (could just barely be there on the first one).

Compare my examples, which are both Wenceslas IV...

I've seen a guy trying to sell an awful lot of those Bohemian groschens - I've checked out his entire bunch (a few dozen coins), and every single one I could identify was Wenceslas IV. Your examples look pretty similar.
