I've got an 1884-O with a small tail poking out of the bottom of the first 8. Can anyone confirm this is a VAM-28 dash under 8? Hard to get a decent photo with the camera I have so multiple shots were taken. Hope they are good enough.

It's not a 28. The dash is under the second 8.

Two different angles of obv-rev as lighting sometimes makes it hard to see things.

It may be a VAM-20. I think I can make out the misplaced date digit in the denticles between 8 and 4.

Dave, I'm using Van Allen & Mallis 4th edition and it shows VAM-20 as double 1 in date and high O Mint Mark which this coin does not have. Has there been an update to show different markers for VAM-20?
Rest in Peace

Use VW. Its much easier and more up to date than the bible. But do read the bible thoroughly.
