I need some help understanding this. For my brothers kids as a Christmas present I got a proof set for each of their birth years from their website. I used a prepaid credit card. I've not received the sets as of yet. I did not receive any special offers just ordered off the site. I know I am paying more than I should or would for these items but that is okay its a gift. I expect this transaction to be done. However from reading this forum I feel I've entered an obligation that I did not. Can anyone elaborate or explain the experience where you get dragged in to the commitment such as expressed in the forum. P.S. Help Thank you

It has been forever and a day since I last ordered from them, but at that time (and I would assume to this day), some--but not all--of their deals are designated to start you on a subscription service. However, not all were/are that way. I would recommend calling their customer service department tomorrow and confirming that what you think you ordered is what you are actually getting.

Although I despise much of the junk Littleton sells and their outlandish prices, they are a legitimate company and will stand behind everything. Just call them if you're having a problem.

This is interesting so when and if I get the sets.
I will post pictures before wrapping.
Also I will post if they try to commit me to
an obligation that was not agreed upon.
Thanks you

And there are those that buy from them and then there are those that never will. I'm one that never, ever will. I just hate any company that sends you something without you asking for it.

HMMM, this company kind of reminds me of Columbia House and their record/tape sales. Full disclosure...I purchased many records, 8 track tapes, reel to reel tapes and cassette tapes from them back in the day. HA HA

There are lots of collectors that rag on Littleton, as sophisticated collectors avoid them, however there is a place in the hobby for companies like this. They get a lot of new people interested in the hobby. If they were flat out ripping people off, they would not be around for more than 50 years.

Littleton filled many folder holes for me way back in the early 80s. They were my only real option at the time. I have no regrets. I bought a lot of vinyl from Columbus House, too.

Quote: Littleton has a place in numismatics though. They may not be for the intermediate to advanced collector but their marketing and sales have attracted a lot of people and got them into the hobby imo. I agree with this statement. I bought from Littleton as a young collector in the 1960s (probably my parents started the subscription?). Pretty sure I haven't bought from them in at least 45 years, but I still remember the anticipation of coins from them arriving in the mail.
