My friend got something in the mail from Littleton Coin Company. He knows I'm missing over 20 National Park quarters. It was thirty something uncirulated National State Park qyarts for $12.?. Also included is the first 1 cent of new Sheild Reverse. I want to know if this deal is real and if I'm not obligated to purchase anything else from company. Also has anyone actually purchased National Parks from company and what the actual cost will end up being. BTW I think I am in the wrong fourm so can you please redirect me.

I moved your topic. Read the fine print, some do include future purchases.

Yes they send you additional coins to buy. if you don't want them you have to pay the postage to send them back.

You can find whatever they offer for a lot less money at local shops or online auctions etc. I do not remember who it is, but there is an ebay seller who sells "runs" of coins at good prices.

I did buy from Littleton once back in the 1980s to get a complete set of the 1982 Lincoln cents. I was living in the Republic of Panama at the time, so getting a complete set from circulation was going to be challenging (though not impossible since US coinage circulated widely in Panama at the time). Being sent unsolicited coins I have to return in order not to get a ding on my credit card sounds very annoying.

BEWARE Littleton is not a company I'd be proud to own. Fine print, and overpriced garbage. I am not saying that there cannot be the occasional good deal, but beware.

I have as well. It was back on the 1980s. I was not even a teenager yet. It could have been a worse experience, so I will not complain.

I've used Dave's Collectibles on ebay a lot. They are in the same state as me so shipping is quite speedy.

Littleton is a mass market retail firm that basically operates on the fringe of the hobby trying to lure less informed people with catchy deals. The legitimate coins they sell are correctly graded but very high-priced. Many of their offerings are gimmicky things like "gold"-plated worn Buffalo nickels. Few people who get in to the hobby in any serious way continue to deal with Littleton for good reason.

Littleton has a place in numismatics though. They may not be for the intermediate to advanced collector but their marketing and sales have attracted a lot of people and got them into the hobby imo.

They might not have started me, but I might have lost interest in collecting had I not been regularly getting those cents and nickels on approval.

Before I was a serious collector I bought a few American eagles from them. They were nice and since I've become more into collecting I figure they were somewhat overpriced. I do buy their storage supplies - mainly the book pages from them. I have bought their Native American coins - not the ones the US Mint makes, but the tribal coins. I can't find them anywhere else. I may be getting ripped off, but I like them. If anyone knows anything about those, let me know.
