Okay, guys. I know we get HUNDREDS of the doubled ear threads. I know 99.999% of them turn out to not be one. My hopes are low for this coin, admittedly. However, I am posting this to gather opinions on the possibility of this coin being a doubled ear to the south. I first picked this coin out because of a nice die clash event, then noticed the abnormality of the ear. Please, give me any and all opinions of the coin. Thanks all!

Does not look like a doubled ear to me. Maybe a die chip/gouge or a hit. Leaning towards die chip/gouge.

I'm gonna revive this topic just to get some more looks at it. I might be able to take better pictures tonight, but I still think it has a chance.

I think it's displaced metal from a hit.

I looked at the overlays, but nothing would make sense here. I'm going to send it off to Mr. Wexler soon, just to get a look.

I sent him the images. He said he wanted it in hand to give a determination.

Also, I wouldn't think it'd be a die chip. It doesn't have the right look about it. Looks more like a possible gouge or a die event other than chipping or breakage.

I will be here and excited for the results. I am very interested in what John A. Wexler says. If you wanted to, you can send any unlisted Doubled Dies or Doubled Dies where you don't know what number it is with this coin. It's up to you though, not me.
