can anybody found out if that accident at Kirkland lake in mar 2012 was a shipment of 2012 loonies and toonies and where they melted down like I heard someone say. since then I only found one loonie in my change and that was after three years. no toonies unless you count what I have in mint set and a o' Canada set

Dorado those toonies and loonies you have showing are all the new security coins, the ones the OP is taking about are the old style with out the security marks.

I've searched hundreds of rolls of loonies and toonies, and have found at least 20 older style 2012 toonies, but never an older style loonie.

Due to the nature of one of my jobs, I too have handled/searched hundreds of rolls of loonies and toonies. Out of all of those coins, I've found only 1 old style 2012 toonie (this happened only back in March) and no loonies. I would imagine it is a combination of the fact that these are very scarce coins, and a lot of collectors know this...therefore they are hoarding them whenever they are found in circulation.

It is the same as the ones from 1987 to 2012, no security marks.

I think the security mark kinda detracts from the coins beauty.

with TheForce. The loonie was nicer in the old style. It was nice to still collect this style from the Young Animals specimen set up until last year when they didn't put out that set anymore. They are some of my favorite loonies. Great detail in some of mine. These loonies are NOT listed in Charlton that I can find. They should be though.
