That is a damaged coin. PMD (post mint damage), environmentally affected. It has a plating issue going on with "plating bubbles" that have formed under the thin copper plate over zinc core. The zinc is "rotting" underneath, a chemical reaction to some contaminant when it was plated forms these bubbles. In advanced stages, holes form, areas erode and come off, "Zinc rot"!

Second us damage, "road rash" on a zinc 1982p large date, three is a normal 1972p w/ no doubling present

Although neither of these examples have any value above one cent, keep searching. We have folks who report neat finds here nearly every day.
