All,
So, I primarily use the "CAPS" albums for my coin collection, but have some extra coins that I have collected along the way that I want to just store separately in a few 3-ring binders.
What are the pros/cons of coins in Saflips vs. the stapled cardboard 2x2s with the mylar windows.
Just curious the various reasons people go with either storing coins in SaFlips vs cardboard 2x2s.
Most of the coins I get a shows are already in 2x2s, but sometimes the 2x2s are not in great shape, or not well marked, and I want to put them into some sort of nice storage that will be easy to manage but also safe and "archival" quality.
Thanks.
Michael
Thanks.

SAFLIP'S Pros: - easier to remove coins for viewing / photographing - tons more room to makes notes on paper insert - reusable or 100% seal-able
Cons: - cost vs 2x2s

I like the white cardboard 2X2s mainly because of the cost.

Don't forget the 2 X 2 that don't use staples. It also gives you more space on the holder for writing since there are no staples to cramp your writing.
I've used them for nearly 3 decades and they are air tight and you never have tone or spots. Ive had large world proofs in them for over 20 years and not a single proof has clouded, spotted, or toned.
More expensive than stapled 2 x 2's, but if you have coins of better value, they are certainly worth it.

Coins do not slide or move inside 2x2's, if the hole is the right diameter for the coin.
For those who reorganize their collection in part or in whole when needed, it is very convenient if attributions relating to the coin, move with the coin. 2x2's are better suited to this type reorganization.

Just a habit I guess but all I use is 2x2 cardboard holders using staples . The last 4 or 5 years I have been using the flat clinch staples ,once you try them you'll never use any other staples .

The flat clinch staplers are the best.

I use 2X2's but it probably boils down to your preference more than anything else. If you want to store them in 3-ring binders it would seem like 2X2's might be a little easier.

For most coins stapled or self adhesive?.... I don't mind.
Stapled can be re opened and sealed again. If the coin inside has been fully attributed on the 2x2, there is less hassle to re staple, than to use a new 2x2 self adhesive.
CURVE clinched 2x2's don't accidently slide out as easily from slippery archival quality album pages.
