I can't post pictures I was looking through my coins today come across a 1971s in its original case that had started forming green around the edge of coin anythigh you can do to get it all off coin tried wiping it gently with a paper towel some come off but you can still see it this was a proof coin I guess scrap silver now any thoughts on keeping this from happening to other coins thanks

Try soaking the coin in Acetone as the green could be PVC. Do not wipe a proof. If the coin has mirrors almost any wipe will create fine hairlines.

with Slider.

If some of the green came off with a wipe, it is probably PVC residue. Pure acetone (paint section) will do wonders on that. Wiping a proof with anything can cause hairline scratches.

Take a look at the lower right coin here (also silver). That was pure PVC residue and an acetone bath took all of it off:
