Hi, new to collecting, I found these 1970 S Pennies and am unsure if there are large 7 or small. I tried to compare through the RedBook but I'm still unsure. could anyone advise? also, I've been reading about how it's ill advised to be cleaning/dipping coins but as you can see from the photos there is some green oxidation on the pennies, what if anything would be safe to help? regards and thanks! pete Image: 1970.jpg99.35 KB

Hi and ! I had a close look at your pic, and I think all of yours are large dates. Small dates are pretty hard to find in circulation. Here's a good reference on what to look for--good luck! Sometimes they can be found in mint sets and dealer's bargain boxes.

Establish a standard indelibly in your mind's eye. LDs are easy to spot after that, loupe or nae. Jim

I would support the idea of everyone who is really hunting for small dates to buy one...just for reference sake. As J_H_S said, once you know what they look like they are easy to spot, even without a loupe.

Here are a few I've got which haven't been attributed as of yet. I'm no good with all that micro measuring stuff. Probably all Large Dates though... Ben
