This is the second quarter I spoke of in my other Delaware quarter post from yesterday. The yellow arrow shows maybe a detached leg.The die crack is faint, but present. Your thoughts are appreciated!

The detached leg looks to me like it was Struck Through Grease. The crack is unusually straight. Are you sure it's all raised and not just displaced metal from being scored?

This is a tough call on both.

The detached leg to me appears to be from die polishing it is such a small area that a Greaser I think would show more of the flattening area around the rest of the design in that area.

The die crack looks like a die crack if I zoom way into that area it does have that bubbly (as I call it) look to it.

AS always just my opinions :)

I agree it's difficult to tell. I tried to take better pictures to no avail. I will try again tomorrow when I have more time.

Wow! I hope this becomes a new, well known, error, like the 2009 Detached leg error.

I don't think that's going to happen, the coin is 18 yrs. old now. The grease it was struck through didn't last long enough to make a variety/error. The detached leg variety/errors are Abraded Dies. Probably the most famous Abraded Die was the Three Legged Buffalo, followed by Chief Two Feathers.

Or die polishing removed some of the shallow devices on that area. Just die alteration.

Yes, I agree with CCL it is a Die Crack. Something scraped across the field on the die, but not deep enough to affect the voids at each end. It would be very hard to scratch a straight line on the coin without affecting the devices at each end of it.

The line looks more like a stain to me. It doesn't appear raised.

Your last few pictures are getting better Newbie, but whatever it is, it's faint. If you want a definitive answer, you have the coin in hand - you should be able to tell for yourself if it's raised or not. To me, the real draw on this coin is the separation of the leg.
