The "type" S mint marks are on the proofs only. I'm not aware of any other varieties, besides the near/far date (which is 1979-P only), and my go-to resource at smalldollars.com has been down for several days.
they(mint) couldn't even Figger a new design for the reverse, then that scary lady? On the front! With a terrible size, no fan of this series! No wonder it was only given out by US Post Office and banks, if asked for!
The reverse being the same as the Ike dollar was part of the legislation from Congress. And I understand that SBA's family was insistent on the specific image to use as the basis of the portrait. There's only so much any designer can do with those kinds of limitations -- credit/blame where such is due.
