And do note--Krause is completely off on actual values for Aus predecimal, lol. Which in a way may be good for us Americans buying from local dealers.

G'day, personally, I think that both Renniks & Maccas are way too high for common coins: the CV are the prices dealers dream about. Peter

The dealers get it too. If I buy a coin locally, the dealer looks up Maccas, that's what I pay and not a cent less Lol.

Thanks guys....my Grandma had these "Large Cents" amongst her collection. I hadn't seen these before and certainly didn't know anything about them. Her collection consists of mostly American coins, but these two were with a "batch" of tokens in a leather pouch......interesting !.....I'm supposed to be putting a value on this collection and so the info will be very useful.....thanks again!

G'day, pricing is well researched: ask a dealer "what price would you hope to get from a desperate buyer, when every other dealer is closed ?" That's what goes in the catalogue. It's amusing to look at final prices on ebay, and compare them to CV. Of course there are exceptions, but for non-gold coins, actual prices are often no more than one-third of CV. With gold, I suppose everyone is well aware of current prices, and that becomes the floor price for coins. Peter

That's actually the best idea I've heard in a long time !!.......It'd be GREAT to know that information and to have it at your fingertips !!....For all denominations and countries too ! Somebody needs to get to work on that !!...

G'day, ebay actually does this for you to some extent. Go to "Advanced Search"; near the top of that page is a box "Completed listings only" - tick that, and put your search words in. Peter

. I pretty much have, I have recorded all the prices of what I consider accurately graded Aussie pennies to florins on ebay. 1/3 is usually what an over graded example will attract, but correctly graded coins over the past 3 years have gone for 60 to 85% of book price on ebay. Slightly more for Shillings and florins and the scarcer dates in higher grades, sometimes more than book price. Mind you, there aren't all that many correctly graded auctions, but still, my document has reached the 350 page mark.
