I got this 1902 crown in the mail yesterday. The odd thing is that when I set it on a flat surface with the reverse facing up, the rim does not completely touch the surface. It can rock in all directions. This is not the case if I flip the coin over. It is almost like it is slightly cupped or something. Why else would the devices be above the rim? Is this a "normal" thing? What do you guys think? Anyone with a similar experience? Sorry for the not so great pictures.

I think this is quite normal. The obverse seems to be deeply cut on these so it stands out further than the rim.
