Only been roll hunting for maybe 2 month now. my first mission was to build a set of business struck Lincoln memorial cents. Figured this would be easy. Only got 4 more cents to complete my collection 68S, 70S, 73S and 1990D. After 100 rolls of pennies I've found wheat pennies (x20). found pennies with (S) mint mark on the east coast (x5). Even coins from Canada (x20). Even a dime in a penny roll (x1). However I've not found one 1990D. I Know if I really want this coin I could by it on ebay. It just seems like this 1990D should be easy to find. So my question is. Is there a reason for collectors to hoard this coin? or have I just been really unlucky?
There is no reason to not find a 1990-D in the wild. Keep looking!
For what it is worth, I built my Memorial cent set from circulation, too (except for the proofs). The 1991-D was my nemesis for years. Yes, I said years. I did not fill that hole until 15 March 1998. Yes, that is seven years.
