My first thought was Die Deterioration, but I think it's unlikely both dies were in very bad shape at the same time. What do you think?

Die Deterioration on both sides. A lot of dies for dimes become extremely worn that year, I don't think it is unlikely.

Thank you Tannman, I see Die Deterioration on the obverse, there's a couple raised areas on the reverse. It looks late stage too, you think it had a couple low areas on the die?

Most extreme example of Die Deterioration Doubling.

the first thing I noticed on the obverse was PIDT (Progressive Indirect Design Transfer)- really evident when you get the ghosting factor on the front creating a Halo effect (that is what I call it) around the head - on the coins that are in really nice condition it is actually beautiful to me along with the DDD and star-bursting - all together looks a like beautiful messed up coin.

I see what you may be referring to on the reverse between the E & D - I would think that would be some kind of PSD

I've noticed this also CM. For some reason they really overworked the dies for this year

Yeah it is! I knew there was something different about this coin but couldn't quite put my finger on it. It's a ghoster. Thanks for noticing that CC. Definitely DDD too. Thanks everyone for the help. This gives me a chance to show one of my unreleased E-Files too!
