If you can find them for about 1.50 over spot, buy 'em.
I've bought from ebay (add in shipping charges), here on CCF and coin shows.

Yes the mint does sell them. $25.95 plus shipping and Handling. The last one I received was last week and was ordered in January!

The coin that the Mint sells is the lower mintage one with the W. They don't sell the regular one to the public. I HEART SILVER coins. This brings back bad memories, maybe change the font

The US Mint does not directly sell the investment-grade bullion Eagles. They only sell proofs and the burnished W mintmarked coins made for collectors. The Mint only sells the bullion coins to a small group of distributors/dealers. The reason for that is that they have to be capable of purchasing of multiple thousands of ounces of silver and gold Eagles. Check out this link http://www.usmint.gov/consumer/inde...ericanEagles for more info on dealer qualifications. I buy them from my local coin dealer, he sells for about $2-3 over spot.
