Is there an online guide for values of ancients? I'm going to a local auction next week, and they have a few NGC graded ancients, but I can't figure out values. Unfortunately, the online photos are poor, and I can't preview until the day of the auction, so time will be limited once I can find a source.

Not really. Vcoins will give you an idea what coins are selling for, along with numerous other auction sites.

I use acsearch. It provides the hammer prices for many auctions. However, if you want to see the prices you have to pay for a subscription.

Auction price records are a pricing resource for same or similar coins that you may be interested in, but they are not current.
Vcoins is for coins that are currently for sale. In this respect the prices at which they are offered, are current. Auction records are not current, and so you have to get a feel for price trending since the last sale, and interpolate.

Slabbing is not the best for working out possible prices that may be realized at auction of a coin you may be interested in, but they can be a help in contributing to provide a price research resource.
A slabber will take a lot more factors into account than a modern coin, before deciding on a grade. A similar ancient coin could have a different combination of factors of different weighting, that may result in the same grade.
These factors can include:
flan completeness,
type and amount of patina,
how well the coin has been cleaned after recovery from burial, and
completeness of design and lettering.

Slabbing DOES help with authentication, but it is only a (respected) slabber's opinion.

The market is your best guide... I agree that V-coins seems to be a good way to get a feel. Search the coin and order cheapest first. Then scan through until you get to coins of a similar quality to the ones you are thinking of bidding on. Then you will have a rough idea what they can be bought for.
Don't forget to make allowances for auction fee's when buying at auction.
