I believe the true only way to start this education process is to submit some notes or coins for grading and see what they come back as. I know graders can vary as well but at least I will know what to look for in future purchases.

The Banknote Certification Service has a summer special where they grade notes for $7.50 per banknote, minimum 10 bills.

http://www.banknotecertification.co...rspecial.php

But they grade very conservatively. Notes you think are uncirculated come back as AU. Notes that are AU will come back as VF.

You can give them a try but I don't believe it is worth $30 to $40 for the US grading services because most of the notes are not in very good condition. Notes that are F or VF don't get much of a premium and you would wasting your money having them graded. The cost of the US$ grading could be worth more than the note. I only submit notes that I believe to be uncirculated or very rare. Another person mention they only have notes that are worth over $300 graded

Or you can have them graded free on the CCF grading forum. People can give an opinion on them. If they say it a great bill then submit to professional grading services.

I will, just not sure where to send. I'm thinking PMG or a grader in my region CCCS. CCCS is cheaper and has started to gain recognition in the industry. Thoughts?

I will be sending the $50 note in the last picture. Its a Coyne and towers A/H 0037360 (4 digit Radar) Devil Face. I think the note is possibly VF-EF condition which makes it worth $140-$230.(without radar)

This note with 4 digit radar VF-EF is valued at $600 -$750.

Let me know your thoughts please.

A/H0037360 is not a radar.

Four number in a serial number means just that there's four numbers used no premium what so ever. In order for it to be a radar you must be able to read it the same from both ends.
Had the numbers been 0037300 or 0637360 it would have been a radar.

Cheers, Bill

Even a 4 digit radar is not worth grading, there is very few buyers of theses types of notes unless in unc condition.

Sending to PMG is very expensive. Lowest rate I could find is US$30. Add on return shipping and you looking at around US$50 or more $60 for one banknote. Is it really worth it for a non radar vote valued around $200?
