To clarify - does the lustrous coin have to be AU/MS or just shiny? Once you get to a certain age, the patina runs pretty deep and it's difficult to tell if a coin is truly AU, or just cleaned up to be shiny.

I think this is my best entry, depending on the answer to the above.

In hand, it's shiny like a piece of freshly unwrapped dark chocolate.

According to Google Maps, there's 1895 miles from Helsinki to Arles.

The denomination structure of late Roman bronze coins is a mystery. This is the smallest denomination that was in use at the time, however.

C'mon guys, I want to see some real luster. These are some nice coins, but I don't see luster in any of these pictures, sorry.

Remember that it's the overall ranking between the three categories that matters, so it might be advantageous to select a newer coin which is geographically and denominationally closer.

Additionally, if anyone can guess why I stipulated that the coin must be dated prior to 1963, you can move up one spot in your worst category.

That's what I'm talking about! @pepactonius the mount of luster does not factor in, it is only a requirement that it must display luster. Any coin with a denomination of 1 will actually tie for first in that category, no matter the order posted. If you don't want to host the next round, you could always just pass it to the runner-up if you were to win.

Maybe I was a little harsh earlier. I realize that not everyone's photography skills are the same, so I may need to give the benefit of the doubt to those coins whose owners say they have some luster. I still want to see actual luster and won't count coins which are shiny or glossy. This puts Jbuck back on the board (looks like it could pass for AU, so I'll take your word on the luster). However, I'm still skeptical how a coin of that age, which was struck on an existing coin and exposed to an environment which created that big green spot could retain any mint red. @Spence, do you have a picture from another angle? The other two are nice glossy chocolate, but I don't see any luster.

It was a prize I won here on CCF a while back. My only guess as to why before 1963 is because of the shortage in U.S. coins at the time that led to the minting explosion between 1963 and 1965.
