Perhaps there should be a people's choice vote for second place?

2nd place won't matter unless oriole doesn't post a new challenge in a timely manner.

I waited until late in the day to give someone else a chance to get in ahead of me!

Yes, please, a People's Choice for second-just for the fun of it.

I have been out of "go fish" for a while due to running out of ideas, but now I will have to think of something. I will post something by tomorrow afternoon.

My vote is for @keith's Costa Rica 25 Centimos bracelet because:

I guess that we can continue with the "people's choice" for the previous contest, while we work on the next one.

Closing time: Tuesday, March 26 at 7 pm.

For my offering this round, I have chosen a bird theme. You must have guessed by now that my handle "oriole" is inspired by my interest in birds. One of these days I will replace my avatar with an actual picture of an oriole. Also, this is the season of bird migration in the northern spring.

Although spring is struggling to get to my city of Ottawa like many parts of northeastern North America, it is just a matter of time before it arrives.

My coin is a Canadian NCLT $5 dated 2002, with a "hologram" loon reverse. The obverse with the queen is not shown. It is impossible to get a "true" picture of this coin as the colours vary with the lighting. I showed two pictures under different lighting conditions just for the fun of it. I did not take it out of the capsule for fear of damaging the delicate surface. I am sure that better photographs could be taken!

The point scheme I am proposing gives a lot of scope and does not mean that a duplicate of this item will win.

Points will be awarded as follows:

1. Metal: Gold, 3; silver, platinum or palladium, 2; other 1
2. Size: quarter or smaller, 1; 50 cents, 2; dollar or crown, 3; much bigger than a dollar, 4
3. Special effects (like colour or a hologram), 2 extra points
4. Images: 1 point for each bird image up to 10. 1 additional point for each identifiable species of bird more than 1 (up to 10 more). Just to clarify, a flock of 10 geese gets 10 points, and if there is, say, a Heron as well, you get 11 points.
5. An actual ORIOLE gets 2 more points.

You have to have a bird image to get points beyond a participation point.

Mythical or heraldic birds count. Dragons will count as birds for this contest.

It can be a coin or a medal or a token. Year and country are not important.

This is a decades-old, scanned-in film photo of my first double eagle, bought in the mid 1960s for about $60 .

Points:

3 - gold
3 - dollar-sized (weighs slightly more than a classic US silver dollar, but the diameter is less)
1 - eagle
--------------------
total = 7

My favorite coin with a bird is on it is this Tet from Athens. It is roughly the same size as a quarter, but much thicker. My score is silver + quarter-sized + identifiable bird + owl = 4 points, right? Or is it only three?
