Post the simplest coin you have (fewer points wins). I've tried to think of all the rules and scoring, but I'm sure that something will come up that requires a game-time decision: Alloy (majority element): copper = 1, silver = 2, gold = 3, all others = 4 Status: must be a coin and have been intended for commercial use (no tokens, lead seals, locker room tags, NCLT, etc.) Design features: Each letter of each word is one point. For languages that use symbols as the word (e.g. Chinese), each symbol is one point. Each symbol or object portrayed is one point (e.g. a simple cross could be one point, but the same cross with annulets in each quarter is five points; a branch with leaves is one point, but if there are berries added between the leaves, then each berry is a point; an eagle is one point, but if the eagle is holding arrows then each arrow is an additional point) Holes (regardless of whether they are mint-applied or just damage) are one point Denticles are one point each Reeded edges are one point total On uniface coins, the retrograde imprint of the design features on the rev are not worth any points. However, if there is any sort of purposeful imprint from the anvil on that side, then it will count for at least one point, depending on its complexity. Coins that have mint errors which remove, obscure, or eliminate design elements (e.g. greasers, offset strikes, unstruck planchets) are not eligible for this contest. Coins that are missing pieces (e.g. clipped edges) such that some design elements that were originally present are now missing are not eligible for this contest. Coins that have missing details due to excessive wear are not eligible for this contest. I'm pretty sure that this is the lowest scoring coin in my collection: a silver Pfennig from early 14th Century Austria. It has a squirrel on one side and a square on the other side and is worth 2 + 1 +1 = 4 points. I have plenty of five point coins from Ancient Greece, but not sure what else might be in the low single digits. Contest will end late on Friday. Good luck! Here is my tally for yours: Copper, 2 characters, hole, 2 rims near edge of coin, 1 rim around hole on rev. That would be 7 points. @palouche, nice work with finding a 4 pointer!
