I nearly entered until you decided to ban silver - why can I ask seems rather Draconian.

The challenger makes the rules. Have we already done smallest silver? I can't remember.

...Ironically enough, I've had pretty much the same idea before, but had to skip on it, as it would have been posted immediately after an extremely similar round. (I hoped to do it in a later round, but you did it first.) I'll have to check if I have an even smaller 5th century AE4 [EDIT: turns out I do have at least one, but I'd need to get a camera to photograph it], but I've previously described this one as 10 mm in diameter... Roman Empire, Leo I, AE4 Obverse: DN LEO [PF AVG] (or similar) Reverse: monogram in wreath (mintmark off flan) 10 mm, weight not taken The last photo is on a British sixpence for scale.

Small copper is a lot harder than small silver or small gold; few civilizations ever produced copper coins less than 10mm, and I believe that the Travancore cash are the smallest modern coppers. This is my smallest round copper that is firmly identifiable Ancient India, post-Maurya kingdoms of Ujjain, or early Satavahana Empire C. 150-100 BC 6mm, 0.34g (1/8 karshapana?) Nice one @finn! My smallest copper coin is also from the Indian subcontinent. Here is a AE Unit from the Malwa Empire dating to 300-500 AD. You can make out a conch shell on one side and the characters for Ji Shnu on the other. The diameter is about 8 mm.

Thanks guys! Continuing the theme of coin weights, diameters, etc, here's a bit of a curveball! Post your biggest lightweight metal coin! We'll define lightweight as weighing 5.00 grams or less Winner will be the coin with the biggest diameter in mm. Coins can be made of any metal, but no paper, plastic, wood, etc. Trade tokens are permissible, as long as they have a denomination. Challenge coin - French Polynesia, 5 Francs 1977 31mm and 3.79g Good luck!
