Quote:Does the shield get a third point? Indeed it does! My intent was to include a few criteria that would be viable for modern coins. Quote: +½ Germanic descended person and mother of a German Empress and grandmother of a German Kaiser. +1? Obselete language or forms (Latin) Sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant letters and numerals specifically, so you could count an ash or a Lombardic N, but not a dead language. I'll give you the half point for the German connection, though. I don't have any 15th-century coins, but I can get a few points: 1751 Mexico 1/2 real 1 Issued by a subdivision of a larger political entity
1 Silver
1 1/2 unit denomination
Bonus: 1 point per shield or coat of arms.
4 points Edit: the shield combines several coats of arms, but I'm not sure about how it should be scored.

I probably have something with more points, but this is the coin that immediately came to mind. You'd have to rotate the pic 90 degrees. I swear it was the right way up when I uploaded it... Nurnberg pfennig, ca. 1457 AD (probably minted for multiple years) Kellner 118?, apparently Numista 1329301 Minted between 1450 and 1500 2 Uses obsolete letter or number forms (...I don't think anyone uses an N like that any more) 1 Minted in Germany, or what is now Germany 1 Issued by a subdivision of a larger political entity (...does a Free Imperial City count?) 1 Silver 2 Shields/coats of arms 8 total, I think.

*Dorado- I can't really tell whether some of those on the 2 ducat are duplicates. If so, I'd count one of each type. It's also up for debate whether medallic restrikes count. Either way, the 50 schilling would still put you on top with 11. **spruett001- I counted 4 points for the arms (Castille + Leon + Granada + overall) and gave you two points for the obsolete 5.

The last two are hidden behind the bust.
