Is this an over polish or something else? Second closeup is also a 1924 peace, just for comparison.

I don't think it's a polishing issue but, I'm not sure what it is.

Apologies for not specifying my question. Yes I was referring to what looks like a gouge behind eagle's mouth. I'm seeing what appears to be uniform striations in the groove behind mouth and below eye.
Had my camera on low res, changed that so here are better pics:

It does bear a resemblance to the planchet striations or roller wheel marks seen in the Morgan series but the mark directly below the eye tells the tale of a post mint hit.

I envisioned some guy/gal at the mint, first day on the job as the coin polisher, finding out how much kick the little polishing wheel had. Or a tiny gremlin with a gas powered chop chop saw...

Gonna find some errors if it kills me!
